About Us

The UCD Energy Calculator is a joint research collaboration between UCD Energy Institute & the SEAI.

The Energy Calculator is a price comparison website for domestic electricity customers with additional functionality: users can upload data from their home smart meter for a price comparison that is specific to their energy usage habits. This project has been made possible through the generous support of the Higher Education Authority and NexSys.

Our Mission

We are seeking to reach those furthest behind in the energy transition first by providing an accurate and independent electricity price comparison tool to households free of charge.

We are seeking to generate research into Ireland’s domestic energy market:

Creating a database of domestic energy information for use by Energy Institute researchers.
Investigate the impact of time of use tariffs on energy consumption in Ireland.
Engage communities on issues surrounding the energy transition.
